Cancel Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi’s OCI card, says anti-Khalistan Front

Chandigarh, April 13

The International Anti-Khalistani Terrorist Front, in a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala, has sought cancellation of the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card of the visiting UK MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi for his participation in anti-India activities.

The letter comes in the wake of Dhesi’s proposed participation in the ‘International Sikh Youth Conference’ being organised by the Sikh for Security Foundation at Pyramid College of Business and Technology, Phagwara, on Friday (April 15). The front has urged the state government and the district administration to prevent his participation at the function. It has been pointed out in the memorandum that Dhesi is associated with pro-Khalistan organisations. Carrying an OCI card, Dhesi cannot participate in political activities in India. These clearly violate the Visa regulations. Dhesi is also learnt to have painted negative image of the Centre on the Kashmir issue.

The front has also sought that his visa be cancelled in case he was found participating in banned activities. It is also worth mentioning that records showed that Dhesi attacked India at the Refrendum 2020 rally in London, a pro-Khalistan movement, organised by Sikhs for Justice, a banned outfit. Meanwhile, the local unit of Shiv Sena, too, has urged the authorities to prevent Dhesi from participating in the April 15 event.

Denying having attended any anti-India rally, Dhesi said: “Reports in the media that I made an anti-India speech at a 2020 rally in London are defamatory. There are some in Pakistan who had tried to portray me as being pro-India, while some hardliners in India are busy trying to say I am anti-India. I think the good people in both India and Pakistan are much too wise to fall for such lies and misinformation.” — TNS
