CBI court judge Jagjit Singh has dismissed the bail application of Kalyani Singh, who got arrested in the murder case of Sukhmanpreet Singh Siddhu alias Sippy Sidhu. Kalyani Singh was arrested on June 15 after she was called to join the investigation by the CBI.

Sippy Sidhu, an advocate, was shot dead on September 20, 2015 in a park of Chandigarh’s Sector 27. The case of his murder was transferred to CBI in 2016. The CBI failed to find the culprits in the case and filed the un-trace report in December 2020. But the report was not accepted by the court. However, the court permitted CBI to continue further investigation.

While opposing the bail the Special Public prosecutor PK Dogra had claimed there was prima facie involvement of the accused Kalyani Singh in commission of murder of Sippy. He said that the agency has evidence that accused Kalyani Singh met Sippy on September 20, 2015 in Sector 27, Chandigarh. She was seen talking to him and thereafter he was killed by unidentified person with fire arms. They both were seen running from the spot in her car.

On the other hand, Sartej Singh Narula, counsel of the accused told the court that CBI has arrested the accused without making any headway in the case. The investigation has so far not been able to establish any link as would point out towards the accused having called Sippy to Sector 27 Chandigarh on September 20, 2015. Narula said the agency itself accepted in an untraced report that investigation conducted so far revealed no direct evidence against Kalyani Singh.

After hearing of the arguments of both sides, the CBI Court dismissed Kalyani’s bail application.
