Despite the CCTV grab of the two suspects in the RPG attack at Punjab Police Intelligence HQ, Mohali, doing the rounds on social media, the Punjab Police still seem clueless about the whereabouts of the accused.

Suspects on the run

  • Cops said the two suspects seen in the grab have been identified as Deepak of Sonepat and Deevanshu of Faizabad. Both are on the run
  • The third suspect has been identified as Charat Singh of Tarn Taran, who was driving the vehicle from which the RPG was fired on May 9

Police officials said the two suspects seen in the CCTV grab were identified as Deepak of Sonepat and Deevanshu of Faizabad. Both of them are on the run. The third person involved in the attack has been identified as Charat Singh of Tarn Taran, who was driving the vehicle from which the RPG was fired on May 9.

Officials involved in the investigation revealed that a gangster, identified as Naresh, had planned the attack along with Pakistan-based Harvinder Singh, alias Rinda, and Canada-based Lakhvinder Singh, alias Landa.

Naresh and Rinda were earlier involved in several murders, including that of Manvinder, alias Mindi Gandhi, who was the elder brother of gangster Rupinder Gandhi on whom a Punjabi film was also made.

“The footage is before the May 9 attack. Deepak was spotted roaming in Zirakpur with Deevanshu, a day before the attack,” an official said.

Police said Naresh, who belongs to Haryana, was a key associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi (main accused in singer Sidhu Moosewala’s murder case) but later both developed differences with each other. Rinda is close to both but is more into terror activities.

Sources said in the interrogation of Lawrence Bishnoi, he had insisted that he was not involved in the RPG attack. Sources said this was an independent operation between Naresh and Rinda. Earlier, the police had arrested six persons in the case. Gangsters, terrorists, drug addicts, arms smuggler and a murder convict had colluded the attack. Those arrested were identified as Nishan Singh of Kulla village in Bhikhiwind, Tarn Taran; Jagdeep Singh Kang of Wave Estate in Sector 85, Mohali; Kanwarjit Singh, alias Kanwar Bath (40), of Gumtala in Amritsar; Baljinder Singh, alias Rambo (41) of Patti, Tarn Taran; Baljit Kaur, alias Sukhi (50), of Kot Khalsa, Amritsar; and Anant Deep Singh, alias Sonu (32), of Guru Nanak Colony, Amritsar. Two cars including SUV Toyota Fortuner and Hatchback Maruti Swift has also been seized from them. Earlier, the sleeve of the RPG was also recovered.
