In a case of suspected honour killing, a 35-year-old man was allegedly axed to death by his brother-in-law at nearby Malewal village here yesterday.
The victim, Lakhbir Dass, had eloped with a girl of adjoining Ghurkewal village two years ago. After marriage, they were living in HP. Yesterday, Dass had come to meet his sister Kamlajit Kaur at the village. The victim’s sister informed the police that her brother was sitting in the courtyard when his wife’s brother Lakhbir Singh arrived at the scene and allegedly attacked him with an axe, killing him on the spot. — TNS
