Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday got emotional while addressing his first press conference in Chandigarh saying “the Congress has made a common man the chief minister”.
Channi urged the Centre to repeal central farm laws, adding, “We stand firmly behind the farmers; all promises made will be fulfilled.”
“We will waive water and electricity bills of farmers,” he said.
Channi said: “The party is supreme, not the CM or the cabinet. The government will work as per the party’s ideology.”
He said: “Captain Amarinder Singh did a lot of good work for the people of Punjab. We will take forward his work.”
