Chandigarh, July 12

To ensure the registration of new vehicles in a smooth and hassle-free manner, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today launched a new citizen-centric service of e-registration certificates (e-RCs) of vehicles through automobile dealers in the state.

A historic initiative

This is a historic initiative that will enable the common man to get the delivery of the smart registration certificate on the doorstep. Bhagwant Mann, CM

“This is a historic initiative that will enable the common man to get the delivery of the smart registration certificate on the doorstep,” the Chief Minister said while launching the service.

He said the facility would provide a huge reprieve to those desirous of buying new vehicles. He said by empowering private dealers to issue the registration certificate, the aim of the government was to provide relief to people as they would not have to stand in long queues for hours to get their new vehicles registered.

The Chief Minister said the step would also help provide a clean, transparent, effective and corruption-free administration to the people. He said the private dealers would provide this facility to new vehicle owners by login through their Aadhaar numbers. After login, the dealer would upload data/documents of the new vehicle and verification would be conducted with the owner’s Aadhaar number.

The Chief Minister said for the registration of the new vehicle, the fees and taxes would be paid online, adding that the registration number would be provided to the vehicle owner on the spot. — TNS
