Congress leader Kewal Dhillon to join BJP today; party leaders Balbir Sidhu, Gurpreet Kangar, Shyam Sunder Arora, Raj Kumar Verka likely to follow suit

Chandigarh, June 4

Congress leader Kewal Dhillon will join the BJP in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah here on Saturday.

He will do so at the party office at 3pm.

Dhillon is a former senior leader of the Congress and an important player in the Jat Sikh politics in the state.

Former Congress ministers Balbir Sidhu and Gurpreet Kangar will also join the BJP on Saturday, senior party sources said.

Shyam Sunder Arora and Raj Kumar Verka are also among the party leaders likely to join the BJP.

While Kewal Dhillon confirmed that he would be joining the party, the others could not be contacted.

Meanwhile, Punjab Congress leader Kuljit Nagra said certain party leaders (who feared being implicated in some cases by the central agencies) were being forced to join the BJP.

Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring targeted the BJP for making these leaders join the party. He said that at a time when Punjab is having law-and-order problems, the BJP is busy poaching leaders from other parties.
