Tarn Taran, December 8
Pall of gloom descended on Dode Sodhian village in the district as the news of Naik Gursewak Singh’s death in the Coonoor helicopter crash flashed in the media today.
He was accompanying Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat, who along with his wife, were among 13 persons who died in the crash. Naik Singh (35) belonged to a poor family. He has five brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his father, who worked as a daily-wager, wife and three children — two daughters and a son. He was on leave and had rejoined duty two weeks ago.
His friend Harwinder Singh said Gursewak was an honest and hardworking man. — OC
