Chandigarh, July 4
A local court has allowed bail to Satinderpal Singh, SI, arrested in an alleged forgery case of issuing fake promotion orders of 11 police personnel in the name of former Director General of Police, Punjab, S Chattopadhyay.
Sunil Toni, counsel for the applicant, argued that the accused, working as an SI in the Punjab Police, had been falsely implicated in the case. Toni said a chargesheet had already been filed in the case. The documents, on the basis of which the present FIR had been registered, were already in the custody of the police. The conclusion of the trial would take time; therefore, no useful purpose would be served by detaining him behind bars.
After hearing the arguments, the court allowed bail to the accused. The Chandigarh Police had registered a case on a complaint of a DSP, Punjab, on January 12 this year alleging forgery of promotion and recruitment orders.
