Hailing the campaign of Dalits questioning politicians, the AAP said just like farmers’ protest, this, too, was an awareness campaign.
It said parties would no longer be able to mislead the poor, Dalits and farmers with false promises. In a joint statement today, AAP senior leader and Deputy Leader of Opposition Saravjit Kaur Manuke, MLAs Principal Budh Ram, Rupinder Kaur Ruby, Master Baldev Singh, Kulwant Singh Pandori, Manjit Singh Bilaspur and Jagtar Singh Hissowal said the ruling Congress, like the previous Badal-BJP government, betrayed the poor and the Dalit community and used them as a vote bank.
Manuke said the farmers’ movement had awakened the Dalits as well. “This awareness campaign started from 114 villages of Sangrur and should be spread across the state,” she said. — TNS
