Differing from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, All-India Anti-Terrorist Front chairman Maninderjit Singh Bitta today appreciated the newly renovated Jallianwala Bagh memorial in Amritsar.
Showing gratitude towards the Centre’s endeavour to facelift the historical site, the former Indian Youth Congress president opined that instead of criticising it for political gains, the renovation work should be appreciated. “The Centre has done a wonderful job by renovating it and enhancing the public utility services which were in a shambles before. Those who have been criticising it are doing politics, overlooking the contribution of martyrs who brought a turning point in the freedom struggle. I believe that the renovation has been done keeping in view the convenience for next 20 years,” he said. — TNS
