Former minister Anil Joshi was among several leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party to join their former ally Shiromani Akali Dal on Friday in what was a big blow to the party.
As he joined the party, Joshi said such instances of BJP leaders joining the Akali Dal proved that political alliances between parties might break but the bond of brotherhood that existed between Hindus and Sikhs in Punjab could never break.

Joshi was expelled from the party in July for anti-party activities after he spoke out against the state unit.
