Ferozepur, July 16
Four policemen, including an ASI, have been booked on account of negligence after a prisoner undergoing treatment at the civil hospital managed to escape.
Gurdip Singh was admitted to the hospital on July 11.
ASI Balbir Singh (investigating officer) said that on July 14, the hospital staff found Gurdip missing from the ward. He said Dr Tanish Kinra informed the police.
Later, it came to the fore that cops were not present when the incident took place. ASI Veer Singh, Constables Kamal Kumar, Amrik Singh, and PHC Jaswant Singh have been booked under Sections 223 and 224 of the IPC. Gurdip had been booked under the NDPS and Arms Act cases. “A hunt has been launched to nab Gurdip,” said the ASI.
