New Delhi, July 9

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday dropped former Punjab MLA Raminder Singh Awla and sitting Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lok Sabha MP Kuldeep Rai Sharma as AICC secretaries in charge of Karnataka.

The two had been appointed in October 2021.

Revamping the state unit, Sonia Gandhi today appointed five secretaries under AICC general secretary Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala.

The new AICC secretaries include national media panelist from Delhi Abhishek Dutt, MLAs D Sridhar Babu, P Vishnunadh, Roji John and Mayura Jayakumar.

Gandhi also constituted a 28-member political affairs committee of Karnataka Congress.

The committee consists of Surjewala as convener; state Congress president DK Shivakumar, CLP leader Siddharamaiah, leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, chairman of Karnataka Campaign Committee MB Patil and former union minister Veerappa Moily among others.

Karnataka goes to elections in 2023.
