Krantikari Kisan Union members on Wednesday met MLA Sardulgarh Gurpreet Singh and submitted a memorandum of demands, seeking compensation from the state government for low wheat yield following early increase in temperature this season.
Union leader Bhajan Singh said, “An early summer this year has affected the wheat yield. Since farmers will be suffering losses this season, we request the government to provide them adequate compensation.” “The government must also waive farm debt of Rs 2 lakh,” he added. —
