Hisar, June 28
The district Health Department has busted a sex determination racket in Moga district of Punjab. Acting on the Health Department’s complaint, the Punjab Police arrested a woman identified as Mandeep Kaur of Moga and Pawan Singh of Kankari Kalan village and recovered Rs 38,150 from the accused.
Hisar’s PC-PNDT nodal officer Dr Prabhu Dayal said they received information about some persons conducting in pre-natal sex tests in Moga district. Subsequently, they roped in a pregnant woman as a decoy customer, who contacted Mandeep Kaur. She sought Rs 50,000 for the gender test.
On reaching Moga, the suspects took the pregnant woman to Kataria Ayurvedic Hospital for an ultrasound test. The Punjab Police, however, carried out a raid on the information of the Hisar health department and arrested the accused.
