Panjab University’s half-marathon runner Varinder Singh was adjudged the best athlete (men), on the concluding day of the North East
Zone Inter University Athletics Championship at Bhubaneswar. Varinder scored 1,143 points to win the title.
The PU athletics team, meanwhile, claimed overall second position. The team won men’s 10,000m bronze medal, men’s 400m silver medal, women’s 400m gold medal, men’s 21 km gold medal, men’s 21 km silver medal, mixed 4times;400m gold medal, men’s 4times;400m gold medal, women’s 4times;400m gold medal, men’s 4times;100m gold medal, men’s triple jump gold medal, men’s 400m gold medal, , men’s 3000m bronze medal, women’s 3,000m silver medal and women’s 4times;100m bronze medal.
