As many as 24 students participated in the internal hackathon organised at the Government First Grade College for Women and PG Centre in Jamkhandi, Bagalkot district, on Tuesday. Over 250 students attended the event.

The students from BCA and BSc courses presented their solutions to problem statements selected from Smart India Hackathon 2026 before a panel of jury members.

The event was organised by the Department of BCA under the coordination of the IQAC and Research Cell. It brought together faculty members, jury members and student participants for a day dedicated to innovation, coding and collaborative problem-solving.

Muttappa Mantur spoke on the growing importance of hackathons in nurturing practical skills, innovative thinking and industry readiness among students. He urged participants to focus on real-world problem-solving with a willingness to experiment and learn from failure.

IQAC coordinator V.R. Dalawai said internal hackathons helped strengthen the institution’s culture of quality and continuous improvement.

Sunanda S. Shirur emphasised the institution’s commitment to fostering an environment of innovation and skill development and wished all participating teams success in the hackathon.

Jury members S. N. Bajantri, Shivaleela H., S. P. Sajjan and Prabhu Y. Avaradi appreciated the enthusiasm and preparedness of the teams. They offered valuable suggestions to the students, advising them to focus on the practicality and scalability of their solutions, pay closer attention to user experience and present their ideas with clarity and confidence during evaluation.

Faculty members Bandenavaz Korabu, Kalavati S. Bisanal and Rekha Dasar, and students Shreya A. Ganachari, Kavya S. Uppin, Saraswati M. Kallimath and others were present, according to a release.
