Chandigarh, September 25
IPS Sahota will be the new Punjab officiating Director General of Police.
His name has been cleared by the Chief Minister’s Office.
The 1986-batch IPS officer Sidharth Chattopadhyaya, 1987-batch officer VK Bhawra and 1988-batch officer Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota were in contention for the post.
Sahota has been designated the Special DGP, Punjab. The ‘special’ rank was recently introduced. It doesn’t mean full DGP, according to sources.
