Punjab Speaker Rana KP Singh disqualified Aam Aadmi Party’s Baldev Singh Kalyan from the assembly on Tuesday.
Kalyan was a legislator from Jaito segment.
A press release from the Vidhan Sabha said: “Hon’ble Speaker has been pleased to disqualify Sardar Baldev Singh Kalyan, MLA elected from 89-Jaito (SC) Assembly Constituency in the State of Punjab, from the membership of the Punjab Legislative Assembly w.e.f. today i.e. the 26th October 2021 as per the provisions of the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India”.
The development comes months before Punjab’s assembly elections.
