Kamalpreet Kaur improves her national record with a throw of 66.59 m

Chandigarh, June 21

Kamalpreet Kaur improved her own national record with a throw of 66.59m in the women discus throw event in the Indian Grand Prix-4 at the NIS, Patiala, on Monday.

Her previous best was 65.06m which she achieved at 24th Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships in March 2021.

An employee of Diesel Loco Modernization Works (DMW) Patiala, the 25-year-old recently booked her ticket for the Tokyo Olympics at the Federation Cup held in NIS Patiala on March 19.

Kaur is the first discus thrower to breach the 65m in the history of Indian women’s discus throw. She hails from Badal village in the Sri Muktsar Sahib and trains at DMW ground in Patiala under the guidance of coach Baljeet Singh.

Patiala: Shot putter Tejinder Pal Toor on Monday broke the national record with a throw of 21.49 metre and qualified for the Tokyo Olympics.
