Chandigarh, December 24
Having failed to elicit response to repeated letters over allowing Orbit buses to ply across Delhi while denying the permission to PRTC vehicles, Transport Minister Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Friday led a dharna outside AAP convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence in Delhi, daring him to come clean on his “understanding” with Badals.
Calling Kejriwal a “compulsive liar”, Warring said by stopping state transport undertaking (STU) Volvo buses from going up to the Indira Gandhi International Airport and confining these to the ISBT, while giving the permission to private players for the same, Kejriwal’s “doublespeak” on ending the transport mafia in Punjab stood exposed. “You are part of the transport mafia looting Punjab,” alleged Warring.
After assuming charge, Warring had written to Kejriwal on October 7, urging him to allow suitable date and time for a meeting to sort out the long-pending issue. The letter was in continuation of three prior letters on the issue by his predecessor Razia Sultana to the Delhi CM on November 29, 2019, March 16, 2020, and February 24, 2021, a spokesperson for the department said.
Prior to that, Principal Secretary, Transport, K Siva Prasad had taken up the issue in writing four times with his counterpart between December 6, 2018, and August 21, 2019, the spokesperson added. — TNS
