Kidnapping rampant, Punjab CM to blame: AAP

Chandigarh, September 5

The AAP today targeted the Congress government over “deteriorating” law and order situation in the state with increased cases of kidnapping and extortion.

Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema said there was an atmosphere of fear among people and not only businessmen and celebrities, public was now feeling unsafe.

Citing official figures, he said 7,138 persons were kidnapped during the Congress rule. “These cases are in government records. Those who didn’t get a chance to reach police stations to save their lives from kidnappers are not counted,” said Cheema. Meanwhile, the AAP commended the SKM for organising the ‘mahapanchayat’ against the farm laws at Muzaffarnagar, UP, saying the message was loud and clear for the Centre. — TNS
