Fatehgarh Sahib: A tempo driver, who had claimed that two unidentified motorcycle riders had looted Rs 4 lakh from him, has been arrested. The police also recovered the amount hidden in a field. SSP Sandeep Goel said when questioned, Manzoor Imam could not answer the queries properly. They took him to the incident site and checked CCTV cameras after which he said he had concocted a story to grab the money. OC
Drug smuggler surrenders
Abohar: Mohinder Singh, alias Bhoma Singh, of Jhugge Kishore Singhwala village in Ferozepur, who was wanted in connection with a February 8 heroin smuggling case, has surrendered. He was arrested and a court allowed his custody for interrogation till October 14. He was reportedly paid Rs10 lakh for escorting a team that carried a consignment of 5 kg heroin from Pakistan. OC
