Less than a week after the launch, a non-political citizen awareness group, Sanjha Sunehra Punjab, was launched in Chandigarh, at least two founding members and the secretary quit their posts today.
In a jointly signed statement, founder members DPS Gill and Prof Ronki Ram, besides secretary Col LJS Gill announced their “collective departure” from the group. It is worth mentioning that only last week, leading lights from a cross section of the intelligentsia had launched the front.
“We had earlier lent unconditional support to this seemingly noble initiative… it has become disturbingly clear to us that the forum is a captive platform for furtherance of the vested interests of few individuals,” the statement read. — TNS
