Chandigarh, July 6
Less than a month after murdered Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s manager Shagan Preet Singh filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Punjab Police today submitted that there was sufficient prima facie evidence on record revealing that he was the “main conspirator” in last year’s murder case of Youth Akali Dal leader Vikramjeet, alias Vicky Middukhera.
In its status report placed before Justice Anoop Chitkara’s Bench, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sukhnaaz Singh stated: “In view of the facts and circumstances, it is evident that there is sufficient prima facie evidence on record which reveals that the petitioner is the main conspirator, who hatched a conspiracy with (accused) Guarav Patial to eliminate Middukhera”.
Seeking directions for dismissing the plea in the interest of justice, the DSP added that the petitioner’s custodial interrogation was required for divulging details “as to on whose behalf he has hatched that conspiracy”. The case will now come up for further hearing before Justice Chitkara on Thursday.
Alleging false implication in the case registered in August last year at the Mataur police station in Mohali district after Middukhera’s alleged murder, Shagan Preet Singh had contended that neither was he named in the FIR, nor had his role surfaced during the investigation conducted for around eight months.
