Moga man attacks wife, son, in-laws’ family before committing suicide

Moga, July 9

A 32-year-old man at Khosa Pando village in this district attacked his wife, son and in-laws’ family with a sharp-edged weapon on Saturday before committing suicide, police said.

Gurmukh Singh’s wife recently went to her parents’ house at Tatariewala village in this district following a dispute. He tried to persuade her to come back but she did not pay heed.

In the wee hours of Saturday, Gurmukh went to his in-laws’ house and attacked his wife and the family.

The injured have been identified as his father-in-law Sarwan Singh (65), mother-in-law Paramjit Kaur (60), wife Gurmeet Kaur, son Mehakpreet Singh and one Harpreet Kaur.

They were taken to the district hospital where they were referred to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot.

Later, Gurmukh returned to his village and hanged himself from a ceiling fan, the police said.

The police have sent the body to the district hospital for post-mortem.
