The Moga police arrested a drug-smuggler from the Malwa belt in Punjab, SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana said here on Monday.
Parlaad Jaat, a resident of Lohana village of Chittorgarh district in Rajasthan, was arrested with 2.5 kg opium.
Cases under Sections 18, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act have been registered against him at the Mehna police station, the SSP said.
He was arrested from the vicinity of Mehna village along with contraband on Sunday night. He had come to Moga for the delivery of opium to a local peddler, who is yet to be identified by the police.
He will be produced before a judicial magistrate on Monday to seek police remand, said a police official.
