Moga woman repeatedly raped on pretext of marriage

Moga, July 13

A 31-year-old woman was allegedly raped over a period of eight years by a Muktsar resident after he promised to marry her, police said here on Wednesday.

The victim, a resident of Bhaloor village under Baghapurana sub-division here, said she was divorced in 2014 and later met Gursewak Singh, a resident of Khoonan Khur village of Muktsar district, who would often visit her at her village.

“He developed physical relations with me after promising to marry me,” she alleged in her complaint.

The medical examination of the woman at the district hospital confirmed rape.

The police have registered a case against Singh.

Sub-Inspector Satnam Kaur said Singh was yet to be arrested.
