Muktsar, February 11

People living around the municipal committee office here have put up hoardings, appealing to the politicians to visit them for votes only after addressing the long-standing problem of poor sanitation.

Gurjinder Singh, a senior citizen, said: “A few years ago, the municipal committee had built a market, located just opposite its new office. However, a large number of shops are presently closed. It is serving the purpose of garbage dumping ground, rather than a market. Besides, stray animals wander in it. We have met some politicians and officers, but nobody is paying any attention. Thus, we have appealed to politicians to come for votes only after developing the market.”
