PPCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu reportedly played a crucial role in replacing Hindu leader Brahm Mohindra with another Hindu leader OP Soni as one of the deputy CMs.

Sukhjinder Randhawa, a Jat Sikh face, took oath along with Soni. Both deputy CMs are from Majha.

Till Sunday evening, Mohindra was in the reckoning for the post of deputy CM. Both Mohindra and Soni had been siding with Capt Amarinder Singh.

Sources said Sidhu not only had a say in the selection of the deputy CMs, but also played an important role in the appointment of Channi as the CM. Using his skills he pre-empted the move by the Jat lobby that was eyeing the CM’s seat.

Even in deciding the remaining cabinet, Sidhu will have an important role to play, sources say.
