New Delhi, July 5
The National Investigation Agency today filed a chargesheet before a special Mohali court against four persons in a case related to the conspiracy to kill a priest, Kamaldeep Sharma, at Bhar Singh Pura village in Jalandhar, by operatives of the Khalistan Tiger Force in January 2021.
The NIA, in its chargesheet, said the entire conspiracy was hatched by Arshdeep Singh, alias Arsh, and Hardeep Singh Nijjar, both based in Canada, to disturb peace and disrupt communal harmony in Punjab by killing the priest.
The accused, Kamaljeet Sharma and Ram Singh, alias Sona, had shot at the victim on the directions of Arshdeep, the NIA alleged.
Those named in the chargesheet included Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a native of Jalandhar, who stays in Canada, Arshdeep Singh, a resident of Moga, Kamaljeet Sharma of Moga and Ram Singh of Ferozepur.
All four had been chargesheeted under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code and under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
The NIA said the case pertained to the attack on Kamaldeep at Bhar Singh Pura village by Kamaljeet and Ram on the directions of Arshdeep and Hardeep.
Initially, the case was registered by the Punjab Police on January 31, 2021, and the National Investigation Agency took over the probe on October 8, 2021.
