Chandigarh, April 13
The trouble in the Punjab Congress seems to be far from over. A day after All-India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary Raminder Singh Awala questioned the show-cause notice issued to former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Sunil Jakhar, another senior Congress leader, Shamsher Singh Dullo, has written to the AICC disciplinary committee, seeking fixing accountability of those responsible for the wrong distribution of ticket in Punjab.
Conduct high-level probe
As a result of wrong distribution of ticket, a number of Congress leaders have been forced to leave the party. A high-level probe should be conducted into why several senior leaders were denied ticket. Shamsher Singh Dullo, former PCC President
Dullo, a former PCC president, in a letter to committee chairman AK Antony, has pointed out that wrong distribution of ticket in the Punjab Assembly elections led to the party’s fiasco. “Those who recommended ticket to leaders involved with different mafias should be held responsible. People of Punjab voted against tainted Congress leaders and not in favour of Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party, he stated in the letter.
Dullo said he had also written to AICC president Sonia Gandhi too, seeking a high-level investigation into the alleged conspiracy to sideline traditional party men in distribution of ticket. “As a result of wrong distribution of ticket, many traditional Congress leaders have been forced to leave the party,” he said.
The senior Congress leader cited the examples of senior leaders HS Hanspal, Mohinder Singh Kaypee, Raman Behl, Malkit Singh Dakha, Jagmohan Singh Kang, Amrik Dhillon, Joginder Singh Mann, Kewal Dhillon, Harminder Jassi, KK Bawa, besides Daaman Bajwa, most of whom have joined other parties or are keeping away from party activities in protest against being sidelined.
