Chandigarh, October 5
Punjab and Maharashtra today signed an agreement for exchange of technology in horticulture. Maharashtra Horticulture Minister Sandipan Bhumre held a meeting with his Punjab counterpart Rana Gurjeet Singh and senior officials of the department at Punjab Bhavan today in which both states agreed on the exchange of technology being used to increase the production of fruit and vegetables.
Rana Gurjeet said only agricultural diversification could get farmers out of the current economic stress. He said by producing fruit and vegetables, this crisis could be mitigated. He said there was ample supply of foodgrain in the country. — TNS
