Amritsar, August 9
The SGPC has formed a committee to investigate the issue of forcing Gursikh candidates to remove the kakaars (Sikh religious symbols) before taking the exam of patwari recruitment held by the Punjab Government at a college in Sector 32, Chandigarh, recently.
The committee under the leadership of SGPC general secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka, included SGPC executive committee members.
SGPC chief Bibi Jagir Kaur said it was unfortunate that the sentiments of Gursikh candidates were hurt. “The perpetrators of this objectionable act should be severely punished. The SGPC committee will contact the victims and submit a report of the entire episode,” she said. — TNS
