Muktsar, January 10
The policing seems to have taken a back seat ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections.
Even more than a month after a Dera Sacha Sauda follower was shot dead at his shop by two unidentified motorcycle-borne men at Bhundar village, the police have failed to identify the miscreants.
Charan Dass, a 40-year-old grocery shop owner, was sitting at his shop on December 3 when one of the attackers entered his shop posing as a customer and opened fire at him. The dera follower died while being taken to a hospital in Bathinda.
Further, a doctor hailing from Muktsar was kidnapped from Thandewala Road on December 20 and released after the family paid Rs 25 lakh. The kidnappers have yet not been traced. Muktsar SSP Sarbjit Singh said, “We are trying to trace the accused involved in both cases.” — TNS
