Amritsar, December 7
Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi visited Khuali village in Amritsar near the India-Pakistan border last evening. He relished the traditional Punjabi dinner with a family in the village.
He also interacted with farmers to know about the problems being encountered by them in the border belt. Farmers told him that even those owning 15 acres were not able to make ends meet.
Farmers complained about difficulty and restrictions in tilling their land located across the border fence. The CM noted down their suggestions on how to make agriculture a profitable venture and ensure better and effective management of paddy straw.
Next morning, he paid a surprise visit to Government Senior Secondary School, Wadala Bhittewad, and lauded the school management for ensuring proper upkeep, cleanliness and educational standards. He participated in the recitation of the National Anthem and interacted with students. — TNS
