Punjab Chief Minister Chanarnjit Singh Channi’s son Navjit Singh got married in Mohali on Sunday.
Several leaders of the Congress—ministers, Members of Parliament and legislators—attended the ceremony held at Sacha Dhan Gurdwara in Mohali.
Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu remained conspicuously absent. Sources in the party said Sidhu had flown to Jammu from Lucknow to visit Vaishno Devi.
Punjab’s Governor Banwarilal Purohit attended the wedding. Among prominent Congress leaders were Harish Rawat, the All India Congress Committee general secretary who’s in charge of the party’s affairs in Punjab, and Finance Minister Manpreet Badal.
Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh attended the wedding.
