Punjab okays pension for families of employees

Punjab Government employees covered under the National Pension Scheme (NPS) have been allowed family pension in case of death in harness. The decision in this regard was taken today by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, in line with the guidelines dated May 5, 2009, and subsequent linked instructions issued on September 4, 2019.

Suitable government modifications were made earlier in respect of employees covered under the NPS, as also applicable to similarly placed Union Government staff.

The government has also waived the annual income limit under Aashirwad scheme for girl beneficiaries who have lost both parents during the Covid pandemic. The annual income limit for availing benefits of the scheme, earlier called Shagun, was Rs 32,790. — TNS

The Punjab Government has ordered exemption or waiver of the annual income limit under the Aashirwad scheme (Rs51,000 wedding grant) for girl beneficiaries who have lost both parents during the Covid pandemic.
