A farmer in Bathinda, Punjab, has been booked and fined for burning crop residue in violation of the law. This is the first FIR of the season related to crop burning. Satellite images were used to detect the burning of straw. The number of crop burning cases in Punjab has been higher this year compared to the previous two years. Amritsar has reported the maximum number of stubble burning cases.
