Rid bus stands of encroachers: Randhawa

  • Following directions of Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Director General of Police Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota on Saturday directed all CPs/SSPs to provide adequate force to the general managers of the Punjab Roadways and PRTC, to help them remove encroachments at all bus stands
  • The development comes three days after Transport Minister Amrinder Singh Raja Warring ordered officials of the Transport Department to ensure that all bus stands across the state were made free of encroachments
  • The order further said the police had to be provided under the command of a gazetted officer to the GMs of the Transport Department on their request

After getting the Cabinet berth, Warring has twice travelled in the buses of the PRTC. Further, his official Twitter account is flooded with suggestions related to the Transport Department and complaints against officials.

User Siddhant Dhir tweeted to Warring, “We have very limited govt bus service on Jalandhar-Pathankot route, most of them being private overloaded buses. Somehow people prefer using Haryana roadways for long routes (sic)” To him, Warring replied, “Will address this concern Siddhant ji.”

Warring said, “I request everyone to keep giving suggestions. I want to improve the functioning of the department and condition of government buses.”
