Laying pitch for the pre-poll alliance, the Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) has given a list of demands to the BJP’s central leadership. The demands include a special economic package for farmers, release of Sikh prisoners from jails and Chandigarh to be given to Punjab.
Party’s chief spokesperson Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad said party president Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa during a meeting with BJP’s campaign committee incharge for Punjab Gajendra Shekhawat had put forward the demands.
He said party workers’ were of the view that the BJP government at the Centre should address the long-pending issues of Sikhs and Punjabis before a tie-up is considered. — TNS
