Faridkot, December 5
To protest against the alleged implication of an officer in a criminal case, the Punjab Revenue Officers’ Association (PROA), Revenue Kanungo Association, Revenue Patwari Union and DCOE Union along with the PCS Officers’ Association have given a united call to go on mass leave on Monday and Tuesday.
The PROA is on a strike since November 22 after the arrest of Naib Tehsildar Sandeep Kumar and Mahilpur Registry Clerk Manjit Singh by the Vigilance Department under corruption charges.
The PROA alleged that the duo was arrested without any fault of theirs as there was no complaint, acceptance or recovery of the graft money from them. It demanded an immediate impartial inquiry, cancellation of the “illegal” FIR and punishment for Vigilance officials who arrested the naib tehsildar. The association members have already met the Chief Secretary, the Financial Commissioner (Revenue) and the Principal Secretary of the Vigilance Department in this regard, but no concrete solution has been found so far. — TNS
