Faridkot, October 6

Members of two rival groups clashed at Bakshi Khana in the district court complex here today. While many of them sustained injuries, the police authorities are silent on the issue.

Around 20 members of two rival groups were brought from Central Jail, Faridkot, to Bakshi Khana for their production before the court of Judicial Magistrate-First Class in a murder case.

The case relates to the death of a 26-year-old youth who was killed in crossfire between two groups in the Rishi Nagar area of Kotkapura town in June this year.

While there were five members of one group, the number of other groups’ members was 15. During the clash, the members of both the groups used drinking water tanks and utensils to attack each other. Senior police officers rushed to the court complex and the inmates were shifted to the jail.

Bakshi Khana is a temporary judicial lockup in the court complex where the inmates and prisoners are shifted from the jail for their production before the court on the day of the hearing in the case.
