Rs 50,00 to tackle lumpy skin disease in Muktsar district
Muktsar, August 2
After a news titled “886 cattle found infected with lumpy skin disease” appeared in these columns of The Tribune yesterday, the Animal Husbandry Department today released an additional Rs 50,000 for its Muktsar district office to immediately purchase medicines.
Dr Jagsir Singh, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Muktsar, said, “We have received Rs 50,000 for medicines, which will be sent to the affected areas immediately.”
It was prominently highlighted in the report that the district office just had Rs 25,000 to take precautionary measures. Harsimran Singh Brar, a dairy farmer, said, “The state government should procure vaccine at the earliest. I am surprised that the department had first released Rs 25,000 for the entire district and now sent additional Rs 50,000. It seems the CM and the minister are not aware of the actual situation.” — TNS
