The Mansa police arrested gangster Lawrence Bishnoi today evening in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case from Delhi court. He will be produced in Mansa court tomorrow.
Earlier, the Mansa court had issued an arrest warrant against Bishnoi.
After presenting him in the CJM’s court, investigating officer (IO) Dharmvir Singh will file a compliance report in the the Patiala house court, Delhi, as per the duty rooster.
Meanwhile, the SIT is also ready to interrogate Bishnoi. Sensing Bishnoi’s counsel would oppose his custody to the Punjab Police citing security concerns — Bishnoi had moved a Delhi court and Punjab amp; Haryana High Court apprehending fake encounter — the state police had gone to Delhi with two bulletproof vehicles and a posse of policemen in a bid to convince the court there was ample security for safe transit of the suspect to Punjab.
The SIT is also banking on Bishnoi’s interrogation, hoping he would provide vital clues that might lead to the arrest of the assailants involved in the murder. So far, the police have only arrested those suspected of providing logistical support and conducting recce.
Meanwhile, a local court today remanded Sandeep, alias Kekda, in judicial custody. The police had earlier claimed Kekda, on the directions of Canada-based Bishnoi aide Goldy Brar and Sachin Thapan, had kept tabs on the singer’s movements by posing as his fan.
In a related development, a three-member team of the Punjab Police has reached Pune, where it is likely to interrogate suspect Santosh Jadhav in connection with the Sidhu Moosewala murder case.
Jadhav is not on the list of four shooters identified by the Punjab Police’s special investigation team (SIT) probing the murder case.
Judicial custody for Kekda
A court on Tuesday remanded Sandeep, alias Kekda, in 14-day judicial custody. The police had claimed Kekda, on the directions of Goldy Brar and Sachin Thapan, kept tabs on singer’s movements by posing as his fan.
