The Budget session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly this year concluded on Tuesday (September 8, 2026) after the House functioned for 28 days, conducting business for a total of 170 hours and six minutes.
Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar said 32,055 visitors witnessed the proceedings during the session, the highest in the last three years. The Assembly recorded 20,137 visitors in 2023, 10,754 in 2024, and 20,123 in 2025. Of the visitors this year, 27,642 were men and 4,413 were women. Students from 76 schools and colleges were among them.
During the session, eight resolutions were adopted and 13 Bills were passed.
As many as 18 suo motu announcements were made under Rule 110 of the Assembly, of which 17 were made by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, he said.
Sign language interpretation of live proceedings
Mr. Prabhakar added that from the next Assembly session, live sign-language interpretation would be telecast along with the live proceedings. The House was later adjourned sine die.
