Tarn Taran, July 19
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Lakhbir Singh and Ferozepur Range DIG’s reader SI Barjinder Singh have been booked for allegedly keeping their colleague in illegal detention and extorting Rs 23 lakh from him while threatening to frame him in a fake NDPS case.
The accused allegedly extorted money from Sub-inspector Baljinder Singh, who suffers from brain tumour, by using the name of Ferozepur Range DIG in December last year.
A case under Sections 342, 388 and 389, 120-B of the IPC and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused.
