Tender of company failing to provide trucks for lifting wheat cancelled

Bathinda, April 16

The district administration has cancelled tenders for transportation of procured wheat as a firm failed to provide trucks and has also been blacklisted.

As per sources, the owner of JB Enterprises, who had tenders, was paying only Rs 68 per quintal of freight to other transporters while he was getting Rs 116. Now that his tenders have been cancelled, the transporters will be able to collect the payment directly from the department.

Truck Union Ekta Punjab Malwa Belt core committee member Rachpal Singh said: “The firm owner doesn’t have a single truck but he was given a contract of 66 mandis.”

“The contractor was giving us only Rs 68 per quintal against Rs 116 per quintal, which he was getting from the department. Due to this, we decided not to provide him with any trucks and also agreed to give vehicles to the administration for lifting till the new tender is allotted.”

DC Shoukat Ahmed Parray said: “During the allotment, the firm had given us a list of vehicles but they failed to provide with vehicles for lifting. There was no agreement between them and vehicle owners and the owners had denied to give vehicles through them for wheat transportation.” —
