Two bike riders killed, one injured in separate accidents in Keralam’s Kochi

Two motorcycle riders were killed and another injured in two separate road accidents in the city on Monday (September 7).

In the first incident, Abhiram, 24, a resident of Thripunithura, died after the bike carrying him and his friend Akhil Shibu, 23, also from Thripunithura, crashed into a wall near Market Road in Thripunithura around 2.45 a.m. Shibu sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.

The Hill Palace police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the accident.

In the second incident, P. Unnikrishnan, 61, a native of Chullikal, died after the bike he was riding fell under a lorry that tried to overtake the two-wheeler at DCC Junction on MG Road.

It is suspected that the bike hit a roadside railing as the lorry came too close to it, causing the rider to lose control and fall under the lorry. The Ernakulam Central police have registered a case over the incident.
